Zinc futures soften 0.79 pc as demand declines

Press Trust of India  |  New Delhi

Zinc prices moved down by 0.79 per cent to Rs 175.45 per kg in futures trading today as speculators reduced exposure, driven by a fall in demand in the spot market.

At the Multi Commodity Exchange, zinc for delivery in July fell by Rs 1.40, or 0.79 per cent to Rs 175.45 per kg in a business turnover of 4,135 lots.

Likewise, the for delivery in August declined by Rs 1.15, or 0.65 per cent, to Rs 175.90 per kg in 160 lots.

Analysts attributed the weakness in zinc prices at futures trade to a fall in demand from consuming industries in the physical market.
