HYDERABAD: Monsoon clouds loomed over the State as a majority of districts witnessed moderate rainfall all through the day on Thursday. Barring a few districts in central part of the State, an average 3 cm of rainfall was witnessed across the State.
With the present conditions setting the tone for a good Kharif season, the steady rains are set to bring smiles on the faces of most farmers. Bhadradri Kothagudem, Khammam, Jagtial, and Nirmal received highest rainfall of more than 3 cm. Mulakalapalle in Bhadradri Kothagudem received the highest rainfall at 4.3 cm, followed by Sathupalle in Khammam ( 4.1 cm) and Golapalle (4 cm), according to the Telangana State Development Planning Society (TSDPS).
Interestingly, this is the first time that normal spells of rain occurred in a majority of the districts. The south-west monsoon has virtually covered all the southern districts of the State.
Meanwhile, a ‘heavy rainfall’ warning has been issued by the weathermen for Friday and Saturday across the State. “Heavy to very heavy rain is likely to occur at isolated places across all the districts of Telangana,” according to a warning issued by the Indian Meteorological Department, Hyderabad.
