Hyderabad HC stays order awarding tender to health kit supplier

HYDERABAD: In a setback to the implementation of “Health and Hygiene Kits” meant to benefit nearly eight lakh girl students in government schools, the Hyderabad High Court on Wednesday stayed the order of Telangana state education and welfare infrastructure development corporation (TSEWIDC) in awarding tender to one Maa Yarn and Fibers company.
Justice MS Ramachandra Rao was passing this interim order in a petition filed by Light House Promotions challenging the action of the TSEWIDC in declaring it ineligible, and in awarding tender in favour of Maa Yarn and Fibers company. Senior counsel L Ravi Chander, appearing for the petitioner, pointed out that the company was declared ineligible though it had fulfilled all the requirements.
The petitioner had filed the tender quoting `338 for supply of 12 items for each kit, while the respondent company Maa Yarn and Fibers had quoted `420. However, the authorities favoured the respondent though it had quoted higher price.
