Panaji: The state-of-the-art technology park proposed at Chimbel will have a built-up area of at least 15 lakh sq ft and provide work spaces for anywhere between 8,000 and 10,000 employees. The Goa
IT policy, which is set to be unveiled on Sunday, talks about the government’s commitment in providing world class infrastructure for the establishment and development of information and technology units in Goa.
An IT village spread over 4 lakh sq ft will be developed within the technology park. The IT village would provide for ready-to-move and plug-and-play facilities on lease with a built-up area measuring approximately 1 lakh sqm, as per the IT policy which was approved by the cabinet on Wednesday.
With a focus on green initiatives, the IT policy says the park will be developed as a facility matching latest green technology parameters. It would have a solar farm power grid.
Most industries located in the industrial estates have been complaining of frequent power failures. Trade observers say investors are reluctant to step into Goa due to the power problem. The IT policy states that occupants of the park will be provided 100 % power back-up, high speed internet, and other amenities.
The IT industry-specific infrastructure will be developed through a public private partnership (PPP) mode depending on requirement of IT companies. Also, from time to time, the state will notify schemes for creation of land banks for further expansion of IT infrastructure, the policy states.
The policy also provides for fiscal incentives to new and existing units investing or expanding their businesses in Goa.
