The Kalamassery police have arrested from West Bengal a man accused in a theft case in the city. The accused, identified as Mithun Baidya, 23, was arrested from his home district of Nadia in West Bengal. According to the police, he had broken into a house at Pathadipalam near Edappally and escaped with 35 sovereigns of gold jewellery and a mobile phone. The investigation carried out with the help of the Cyber Cell by tracking the stolen mobile led to the arrest.

The investigation was carried out under the guidance of Kalamassery Circle Inspector Prasad while a team led by Sub Inspector Antony Netto made the arrest.

He was produced before the court and remanded. The police will secure his custody to recover the stolen items.
