The declaration of the results of the second round of NEET 2018 as well as the online counselling for admissions in medical and dental colleges in the country has been put on hold following the order of the Madurai bench of Madras high court.

The Medical Counseling Committee (MCC) under the ministry of health and family welfare issued a notice on Thursday informing all candidates, institutes, colleges and universities about the decision.

The committee was likely to declare the results for the second phase of counselling on Thursday on its website — mcc.nic.in.

Madras high court on Tuesday ordered the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to award 196 marks — 4 marks each for 49 erroneous questions — to students who took the Tamil version of this year’s National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) this year.

Justice CT Selvam and justice AM Basheer Ahamed of the Madurai bench also directed the education board to consequently publish a revised list of eligible candidates.

The bench, however, said it shall be upon the authorities to go about the counselling process (which is already on in Tamil Nadu) for eligible candidates.
