GANDHINAGAR: In a major shake-up, the
Gujarat government on Thursday shifted 21 senior IAS officers, including Ahmedabad and Vadodara municipal commissioners and several additional chief secretary (ACS), principal secretary and secretary-rank officials.
Vijay Nehra (2001 batch), who returned from his one-year foreign training in May, is the new municipal commissioner of Ahmedabad. Ajay Bhadoo (1999 batch) has been given responsibility of Vadodara municipal chief in place of Vinod Rao, who has been shifted to Gandhinagar as secretary, agriculture, farmer welfare, animal husbandry and fisheries.
Ahmedabad municipal commissioner Mukesh Kumar has been made secretary, education (primary & secondary).
Chief secretary J N Singh, who had been holding the charge of MD, Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) since a long time, has hand over the responsibility to T Natarajan, who was the joint MD with the corporation. The CS was at the helm of the affairs to give impetus to debt restructuring plan of the GSPC.
M S Dagur, ACS, home and ports, has been transferred to a Bharuch-based PSU, GNFC, as its MD, relieving Rajiv Gupta from this additional charge. Dagur is scheduled to retire this month. He has been given two-year term with the GNFC.
The state government has appointed A M Tiwari, MD, GSFC, Vadodara, as the new ACS, home.
As expected, Arvind Agrawal, ACS, forest & environment, who was holding the additional charge of finance department, has been given the regular posting of ACS, finance. Rajiv Gupta, ACS, labour & employment, is the new ACS, forest & environment. In-charge ACS, general administration department, Sangeeta Singh, has been relieved from the responsibility of ACS, civil supply & consumer affairs department. In a surprise move, the state government has transferred Sujit Gulati, ACS, energy & petrochemicals, and made him MD, GSFC. Gulati was hoping for a Delhi posting. Sunaina Tomar, principal secretary, education(schools), is now PS, ports & transport. Mohammad Shahid has been appointed as the CEO, GMB.
