Screenplay writer, 32, dies after allegedly jumping off his building’s terrace in Mumbai

A 32-year-old screenplay writer allegedly committed suicide in Mumbai on Wednesday night. Ravi Shankar Alok, a resident of Seven Bungalows area in Andheri , Mumbai, ended his life by jumping off from the roof of the building where he lived at around 2 am.

Alok was reportedly involved in the writing of Nana Patekar-starrer Ab Tak Chhappan, a police official informed PTI. No suicide note was found on Alok's body or in his house, the official added.

As per the preliminary information, Alok was suffering from depression and was undergoing psychiatric treatment, he said. According to a Times of India report, the writer’s parents had recently left for Patna and his brother was not at home when the incident happened.

His body was discovered when the guard of a neighbouring building heard a loud noise and came to find out what had happened. Suburban Versova police are conducting further probe and more details are awaited.
