Cape Town - Tennis great Roger Federer has weighed into the debate surrounding the clash on Sunday between the Wimbledon men's final and the Soccer World Cup final.

And his response to the question was hilarious!

Wimbledon officials have confirmed they have no plans to change the starting time from 15:00 (SA time), while the World Cup final kick-off time is set for 17:00 (SA time).

Barring a rain delay at Wimbledon, the matches will clash, with fans at Wimbledon expected to have their cellphones out with fingers poised on the 'refresh' button - hopefully on Sport24's live scoring of course - to follow the action unfolding in Moscow.

And vice versa.

Federer of course won't be part of that Wimbledon men's final, having been sensationally knocked out of the tournament by South Africa's Kevin Anderson in the quarter-finals on Wednesday.

Anderson will play American John Isner in the semi-finals, while the other last four clash will see Spain's Rafael Nadal take on Serbia's Novak Djokovic.

France will play Croatia in the World Cup final, meaning none of those remaining in the Wimbledon draw will have any compatriots in with a shout of glory in Russia.
