Digital platform is necessary for social-habitual change: Chandrakar

Digital platform is necessary for effective and result oriented social and habitual change. The National Health Mission and Digital Green through video would spread the awareness among the villagers on government schemes related to family planning, pregnancy and child protection and nutrition, said Health and Family welfare minister Ajay Chandrakar. He was addressing the even organised in a private hotel for commencement of ‘Samvad’ (dialogue). National Health Mission and US Aid with Digital Green organised the event.

Minister on the occasion felicitated Mitanin Sohni Banjare, Pomin Dewangan, Parvati Mandavi, Shanti Patauti and Hemlata Sahu of Rajnandgaon for excellent work in health sector.

The indicators make it evident that in state the best work has been done in sectors of health, education and poverty eradication. The schemes and ground staff hard work and awareness among the people for health has resulted in, more and more approaching the institutions. There is credible increase in the hospitals among the people. Human sensitivity involves the health services. Therefore with all honesty and compassion, the services have to be provided.

Health department secretary Niharika Singh Barik said that audio-visual is an effective medium for spreading the message among the people. Health services are mostly surrounded by superstitions, social evils and ancient traditions. The digital medium can spread the message and help to increase awareness among the people towards health and its issues. Through the Pico Projector, the videos made by villagers would be shown to villagers. In the video film the local people would be cast so that effective use of local language and message can be impactful, so that there is drastic change in health related habits. 

She further said that earlier the pilot project was being implemented in Rajnandgaon district now it has been extended to Kawardha, Dhamtari, Bemetara and Baloda Bazaar district where the villagers would be shown health related videos. Director Health Services Ranu Sahu, National Health Mission managing director Dr Sarveshwar Narendra Bhure, Director Medical Education Dr A K Chandrakar, health and family planning and epidemic Dr R R Shahni, US Aid Regional Director Dr Amit Shah, Digital Green Country Head Vinay Kumar along with NGO representatives and departmental official-employees were present.
