Excise officials destroy 640 foreign liquor bottles in Hyderabad

Around 640 premium brand non-duty paid foreign liquor (NDP-FL) worth `40 lakh, were destroyed by Excise department officials on Wednesday in Shamshabad.

HYDERABAD: Around 640 premium brand non-duty paid foreign liquor (NDP-FL) worth `40 lakh, were destroyed by Excise department officials on Wednesday in Shamshabad.

In May 2017, officials cracked down on an organised racket which was smuggling foreign liquor bottles from duty-free stores at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport and sold it in commercial market. Based on the leads, sleuths from the department nabbed  B Shiva Patil and N Harish Singh who were the alleged kingpins in selling them.

They seized 1,373 NDP-FL bottles and their accomplices. Of them, 640 bottles were destroyed in presence of joint commissioner N Ajay Rao, Rangareddy’s deputy commissioner SY Qureshi and other officials.
