Nagpur: Continuous adjournments of Maharashtra assembly and Senate made some legislators angry over wasting taxpayers money.
All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (MIM) legislator Waris Pathan slammed both treasury and opposition benches for wasting time of both houses without any concrete reason.
Speaking with the media on Thursday, after opposition supported by Shiv Sena forced adjournment of both houses on the Nanar refinery issue, he said both benches were doing a drama in the houses while ignoring other important issues.
“While serious issues like farmers suicides, potholes, incessant rains and others are plaguing the state, both ruling and opposition parties are making a mockery of the entire affair. They seem to be coming here, just for a picnic. It’s fifth day that they were not letting the work to continue. If calculated, it would amount to over Rs54 crore, which is hard earned money of the public,” he said.
The Byculla MLA warned that if both opposition and ruling parties continue to waste the precious time by such gimmicks, the voters would teach them a befitting lesson in next year’s general and assembly polls. “I don’t know, why we’re invited here. If you want to waste time, it would be better that we should work in our respective constituencies. Both benches are playing only politics and it seems that there was consensus between them,” he said.
On other queries, Pathan, also a lawyer, took a dig at BJP-led NDA government headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He charged the government of playing politics in the name of religion. “They’re now creating controversy over Bhagvad Gita. Where is ‘Sab Ka Sath, Sab Ka Vikas’ as declared by the PM. There seems to be no development in the country,” he said.
He added that he was still waiting Rs15 lakh to be deposited in all citizens account, as assured by the PM. “Digital India is not seen anywhere. Nirav Modi and Vijay Mallaya fled with white money of the citizens, but no one is concerned,” he said.
