Heavy rainfall in east Raj, pleasant morning for city

JAIPUR: After the revival of southwest monsoon in the state on Tuesday, majority of the places in the eastern Rajasthan got heavy to very heavy rainfall on Thursday. A few places in the western Rajasthan also witnessed moderate rainfall except Churu which remained hottest in the state where a maximum temperature of 42.4 degrees Celsius was recorded, the Met reports said.

Jaipur Met office in its warning has stated that heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to occur at many places in the eastern Rajasthan in the next 24 hours.

People in the Pink City woke up amidst rainfall. Early morning showers started at 5 am in the morning and it lasted for almost two hours in different intensity. Majority of the city roads were waterlogged due to which some of the city schools declared a holiday, while many schools operated. Jaipurites also witnessed a major drop in its minimum temperature of 25.4 degrees, almost one degree below the normal notch was recorded in the city. In the afternoon, due to cloudy conditions and early morning rainfall, a maximum temperature of 34.5 degrees Celsius was recorded.

Many of the areas, including Statue Circle, Amba Bari, Khatipura Road, Murlipura and others like Shastri Nagar were badly waterlogged during the early morning hours.

In rest of the state, except Jodhpur, Barmer, Jaisalmer, Churu and Sriganganagar, a good rainfall was witnessed in the morning.

Baran received a rainfall of 100 mm which was highest in the state and was followed by Viratnagar (Jaipur) and Sangod (Kota) where a rainfall of 70 mm was received, Kishangarh Bas (Alwar), Baseri (Dholpur) and Shahpura (Jaipur) received a rainfall of 60 mm each, Neem Ka Thana (Sikar), Behror (Alwar) and Pawta (Jaipur) witnessed a rainfall of 50 mm each.

Despite the revival of monsoon rainfall the places like Bikaner, Sriganganagar, Jaisalmer and Barmer received a maximum temperature of 42.0, 41.6, and 40.4 degree Celsius each respectively.
