On Tuesday, a well-known 27-year-old biker, who encouraged women to take up motorcycling, committed suicide at her flat in Goregaon (E). Chetna Pandit in her suicide note mentioned a recent break-up and depression over not being able to fulfill her dreams.
According to The Hindu, Chetna Pandit who lived in a rented apartment committed suicide by hanging herself from a ceiling fan. Chetna shared the flat in Padmavati building with three others. She had been residing there for the past four months. Her death was reported by one of her flatmates, who returned at 6.20 p.m. to find the door locked from inside, and called for a key maker.
The letter Chetna left behind said no one should be blamed for her death. She had taken the extreme step because she couldn’t achieve certain goals in her life. Senior PI Rajaram Vhamane, Dindoshi police station told the leading daily, “The police took her body to Siddharth Hospital in Goregaon (W) for post-mortem. An ADR has been registered.”
Chetna Pandit, who hailed from Shimoga in Karnataka, had lost her parents a few years ago. In Mumbai, she was working for a bike showroom in Andheri and was also a motorcycle coach and road captain at Enfield Riders. She was part of a growing tribe of female motorcycling enthusiasts in the city.
