NEW DELHI: In a bid to target businessmen, two criminals devised a way where they would roam in south Delhi and accuse their target of committing an accident earlier and get into a quarrel with them during which they would rob him and flee with the vehicle.
Their run ended on Tuesday when a policeman intervened and upon checking found that the suspects were travelling on a stolen two-wheeler.

Confirming the incident, additional DCP (southwest) Monika Bhardwaj said that the accused have been identified as Satish Singh (22) and Dheeraj Kumar (22). Both are residents of Pushp Vihar, Saket. They have been found involved in multiple incidents of robberies in Vasant Kunj and RK Puram.

The duo came on the radar of the police after two incidents of robberies were reported in a close interval near RK Puram on Monday evening.

In the first incident, a man made a police call from Mohammadpur village in RK Puram and alleged that two men fled with his scooty after getting into an argument with him.

The man told police that he was about to reach his house in RK Puram when the duo intercepted his vehicle and started shouting at him, accusing him of committing an accident and started demanding compensation. After hassling him for a while, the accused snatched the keys of the two-wheeler and drove away. As the man went around looking for help, the criminals returned and drove away with the man’s scooty.

Even as cops were investigating this case, another information was received that a businessman has been robbed in RK Puram area. The man told cops that two men came on two scooties and intercepted his car. The moment he stepped out of his vehicle, the criminals accused him of hitting their two wheeler earlier while driving and started demanding compensation from him.

As one of them engaged the businessman in the argument, his aide snatched the man’s wallet and drove away. The businessman alerted the police and the teams were sent to nab them. They were subsequently arrested from Bhikaji Cama place.

During interrogation, the duo revealed that they would target lone drivers and rob them off their valuables and vehicles. The vehicles were then sold off to auto-lifters and scrap dealers.
