Slams government over pending infrastructure projects

Uppal MLA N.V.S.S. Prabhakar has said that promises made to Uppal constituency by the government even in the Assembly have remained unfulfilled and urged the Municipal Administration Minister K.T. Rama Rao to take immediate action on developmental works.

Mr. Prabhakar, who met the Minister at Secretariat, said the road widening works in Uppal were yet to start while lakhs of commuters have been facing hardship. This is happening despite the issue was brought to the government’s notice at all review meetings and also Assembly sessions.

He said the Road Over Bridge near Cherlapally railway station has not been completed as the government had failed to acquire 28 properties in the last four years while Railways completed their portion of work within six months. He demanded separate police stations in Ramanthapur and Moulali apart from a junior college.

The MLA asked the Minister to redesign the lakes in Kapra, Nagaram, Ramanthapur and Uppal to improve water storage rather than constructing nalas that would only help the contractors. He wanted fencing to be taken up at all lakes immediately as the lake beds were being encroached. About 10 acres of land of municipal stadium in Kushaiguda and 20 acres in Nalla Cheruvu in Uppal were also under threat.

Mr. Prabhakar said, so far the government has not even given permission for the Mini Tankbund proposed at Ramanthapur lake where statues of Telangana martyrs, historians and literary figures were to be erected. He also demanded that 3,000 double bedroom houses be sanctioned for Uppal industrial area. He also wanted ₹25 crore to be released for basic facilities in Balakrishna Nagar, Saikrishna Nagar and KCR Nagar.
