BIHARSHARIF:
Nalanda police on Wednesday arrested the third accused for sexually assaulting a minor, three days after a video grab of the crime had gone viral on social media.
Chandi police station SHO Mukesh Kumar said Pawan Kumar, a resident of Mahmadpur village under Nagarnausa PS area, who had outraged the modesty of the 14-year-old girl from a village under Nagarnausa police station along with his two accomplices on July 2 and made the video footage viral, was arrested from
Biharsharif on Wednesday.
The main accused Nandan Kumar, a resident of Bodhi Bigha village under the same police station, who worked as the driver of the victim’s school van had taken her to a house at Dharampur village under Chandi PS area instead of dropping her at her school. Nandan, joined by three other accomplices including Rajaram, son of Kaila panchayat sarpanch, Pawan and a fourth accused, the identity of which the police are not revealing, physically abused the minor and made a video of the heinous act.
Father of the victim lodged an FIR against the trio on July 8, following which Nandan was arrested the next day and Rajaram surrendered in a Biharsharif court on Tuesday. Surprisingly, the victim’s father did not mention the fourth accused in his FIR, who recorded the crime and allegedly uploaded it on social media, and the police also remain tight-lipped about the mysterious man’s identity.
Chandi PS SHO Mukesh Kumar said a probe is on and the fourth accused will be also arrested. According to sources, the fourth accused might be the owner of the house or any of his relatives where the accused had physically abused the minor.
