Ambedkar University Delhi on Wednesday released its second cut-off list for admission to merit-based undergraduate programmes.

The university offers BA (Honours) in Economics, History, English, Political Science, Psychology, Mathematics, Sociology, and Social Science and Humanities. It has introduced courses in Global Studies, Sustainable Urbanism and in Law, Politics and Society this year.

NCT candidates

For NCT candidates in the general category, the cut-off for economics is 92.25%, English 89.5%, psychology 93.25%, mathematics 85.75% and history 86.50%.

The required scores in the second cut-off have seen a drop across all subjects, with a steep decline in the marks required for history. Under the first cut-off list, students needed 90% for history.

Admissions under the second list will take place on Thursday and Friday.

The third list will be announced on Saturday. The university has said it may release up to six cut-off lists.

AUD also launched a Centre for English Language Education (CELE).

Explaining the purpose and role of CELE, its director Amol Padwad outlined the current and future plans.

AUD Vice-Chancellor Professor Shyam Menon said the university has a commitment to its own and other students of English as well as the public education system in Delhi.

CELE was set up in response to the needs and aspirations of the youth in English for higher studies and employment.

“The demographics of the country have been changing rapidly. Everyday, several new people come to the cities with new aspirations. However, many factors come in the way of these aspirations, which make it difficult for people to achieve good jobs or even tertiary education. The single most important factor in this regard is incompetency in English language,” said Prof. Menon.

A panel discussion on “Access to English for Social Equity and Justice” was also organised to mark the launch.
