Technology to mobilise SMEs

The India-Korea Technology Exchange Centre has been launched in New Delhi to create a platform for micro, small and medium enterprises (SME) of India and Korea where they can be assisted to identify and exchange latest technologies, share management expertise, product development and technology applications for product development, informed the Minister of State for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSEM), Giriraj Singh. The centre will also work towards building reliable alliances in space, solar energy, nano technologies and other upcoming technologies. The Minister of SMEs and Start-ups of Republic of Korea, Hong Jong-hak, said his country has strong industrial base with well-developed SME sector, especially in advanced manufacturing technologies and SMEs of both the countries can learn from each other to enhance their comparativeness.

Course on publishing to inculcate professionalism

The National Book Trust (NBT) India is mandated to promote reading habit among individuals. To further the skill development initiative of the government, it is organising a four-week Book Publishing Course (BPC), beginning from July 10. The course was inaugurated at NBT’s New Delhi headquarters. Dr. Sachchidanand Joshi, member secretary of Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts, New Delhi, graced the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. Thirty participants from across India will participate in the course. Joshi said that even as eBooks have come in use, charm of physical form of books shall remain forever and will continue to attract the readers. He exhorted the participants to emulate highest standards set by other publishers, opining that publishing is an ideal profession to bring in positive changes in life and the society. NBT chairman, Prof. Baldeo Bhai Sharma, said that training courses in book publishing have caught attention of all stakeholders in the publishing field creating job opportunities for the trainees.

Improved medical facilities in Patna

The Union Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Santosh Kumar Gangwar, opined that with the establishment of the 100-bedded ESIC Hospital at Bihta, Patna excellent medical services will be made available to Insured Persons (IPs) and their dependents from Patna, Bhojpur, Buxar, Vaishali, Arwal, Jehanabad etc. He was speaking at the inauguration of the said hospital. Gangwar added that in the future, this hospital will be upgraded to 300 beds and a medical college will also be started. Facilities like emergency services, X-ray, OPD and Operation Theater will be available. Also, work of the 50-bedded ESIC hospital has begun in Phulavisharif, Patna upgradable to 100 beds.

Reward for good work at BSNL

The Minister of State for Communications, Manoj Sinha, presented Bharat Sanchar Seva Awards to winners for the year 2016 and 2017 along with Department of Telecommunication’s Secretary Aruna Sundararajan, CMD of BSNl Anupam Shrivastava. Six winners for each year were felicitated under the individual awards category. In addition, Santrupti CSC of Bhopal (MP Circle) and Thrissur CSC of Thrissur (Kerala Circle) were recognised as the Best Customer Service Centre for 2016 and 2017, respectively. The Minister said, “These BSNL employees have shown outstanding performance in their respective areas of work, thereby establishing benchmarks for their peers and colleagues.” The winners of these awards are selected from across Service Areas and Levels, on the basis of a set of multi-dimensional parameters
