Lord Carlile denied entry in India due to inappropriate visa: MEA

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Wednesday informed that the British national, Lord Alexander Carlile, was denied entry here as he did not have the appropriate visa.

Carlile, who is a British lawyer of Bangladesh's opposition Nationalist Party leader Khaleda Zia, was scheduled to hold a press conference in on July 12.

MEA, Official Spokesperson said that Carlile was barred to enter as his intended activity in was incompatible with the purpose of his visit in the visa application

"Lord Alexander Carlile, a British national, arrived in on July 11, 2018, without having obtained the appropriate Indian visa. His intended activity in was incompatible with the purpose of his visit as mentioned in his visa application. It was therefore decided to deny him entry into India upon arrival," MEA said.
