As expected, Toyota brought a lightly camouflaged version of the hotly anticipated new Supra at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, with the car making its dynamic debut up the famous hill.
The new Toyota Supra -codenamed A90- will be driven by chief engineer Tetsuya Tada and test driver Herwig Daenens during the weekend at Goodwood.
Toyota has been very cautious not to reveal the details of the new Supra, saying only that it will feature a six-cylinder engine, just like its predecessor did. The company aims to offer Porsche 911-levels of performance at a significantly lower price point with the new Supra.
As we already know for quite some time, the new model will share its underpinnings with the new BMW Z4, including the engine and eight-speed automatic transmission. Previous reports suggested that the two cars will have an entirely different character on the road.
The 3.0-liter straight six engine will probably produce 335hp and 332lb-ft of torque, at least according to a leak earlier this year. The same report said that the new Supra will tip the scales at 1,496kg (2,204lbs) and will be able for a 0-62mph (100km/h) in 3.8 seconds.
Toyota has confirmed that the new Supra will debut in the second half of 2019, so expect to hear more from them in the months to come.
