WESTPORT — After closing Horseneck Beach Wednesday due to strong rip currents, the Department of Conservation and Recreation has reopened the beach on Thursday.

However, DCR is reminding visitors "to swim in the designated area at the beach, where lifeguards are stationed, and to use caution while swimming following yesterday’s high surf conditions and strong rip currents."

DCR also said Gooseberry Island will re-open, as well.
