DU fifth cutoff list: Seats still vacant in popular courses

Most colleges announced a drop of 0.25 to 1 percentage points in cutoffs compared to the previous list.

The Delhi University (DU) on Wednesday announced its fifth cutoff list for about 12% of the seats vacant in some colleges for admission in popular courses such as Economics (Hons), BCom (Hons), English (Hons) and History (Hons).

Most colleges announced a drop of 0.25 to 1 percentage points in cutoffs compared to the previous list.

Hans Raj College has closed admission to 16 courses out of the 18 that it offers for general category students. But admissions are open for English (Hons) in which the cutoff is 95.50%, a drop of 0.25 percentage points and BSc Life Sciences, in which the cutoff is 94.33%.

Similarly, Hindu College has closed admission for 17 out of 18 courses that it offers. But Chemistry (Hons) is available for admission at 96.66%.

At the Lady Shri Ram College, all courses were closed for admission except Statistics (Hons), which was available at 96.75%, a drop of 0.25 percentage points from the fourth cutoff list.

But Kirori Mal College had admission open for eight courses out of the 21 that it offers. Economics (Hons), BCom and BCom (Hons) were available for at 96.50%, 96.25% and 96.50%, respectively.

Ramjas College announced a fifth cutoff list for Economics (Hons) at 96.25%, English (Hons) at 94.50%, History (Hons) at 94% and BA Programme at 93.75%.

At Miranda House, admissions were open for Economics (Hons) at 96.50%, English (Hons) at 96.25%, Sociology (Hons) at 94.75% and Chemistry (Hons) at 96%.

Around 50,000 seats out of the total 56,000 seats have already been filled.

Maximum admissions till now have been done in BA Programme with 8,612 seats being filled out of the total 10,172 seats. In BCom there have been 5,137 admissions against a total of 6,483 seats.

BCom (Hons) has a total of 6,273 seats and 5,085 admissions have been done.

Admission under the fifth list will start on Thursday and continue till Saturday. Verification of documents and approval of admission will happen from 9.30 to 1.30 pm for regular shift colleges and 4pm to 7 pm for evening shift colleges.

The university is likely to announce a sixth cutoff list if seats remain vacant.
