RANCHI: Accusing Opposition parties of misguiding tribals regarding the developments of the Narendra Modi Government at the Centre, BJP national president Amit Shah said changes in the Land Act have strengthened the tribal population in the State.

Shah said Jharkhand was carved out of Bihar only due to the efforts of the then BJP Government under the leadership of Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee.

Addressing tribal intellectuals, Shah claimed that the BJP was the only party which was concerned for the development of tribals as the maximum number of developmental schemes were launched in the last four years.

"We are committed to the development of tribal families. Every tribal village in Jharkhand will make progress through developmental works," assured Shah.

Hari Krishna Singh, who had come from Chaibasa to participate in the programme, said that Shah gave an account of the developmental works being done for the people, especially for tribals in the country and in Jharkhand.

"The national president said that the law has been further strengthened by the new Land Act which will accelerate the pace of development in the State," said Singh. Shah also promised all basic amenities in tribal villages.

Lohardaga MP Sudarshan Bhagat said Shah’s interaction with educated tribals will remove the misunderstandings being created by Opposition parties.

"Misunderstandings being created by Opposition parties, especially Jharkhand Mukti Morcha through different mediums like 'Patthalgadi' and Land Act, denying the developmental works done by the BJP Government, have definitely been removed through the one to one communication of our national president," said Bhagat. He was confident that the entire tribal population was with BJP, he added.

Later, Shah also held meetings with state BJP officials, booth committees, MPs, MLAs at State BJP headquarters in Ranchi and took stock of preparedness for 2019 polls.
