This clay plaque, believed to be the oldest known inscription of Homer’s epic poem “Odyssey.”????The astonishing discovery, made in the ancient Greek city of Olympia near the Temple of Zeus.????The ministry calling the find “a great archaeological, epigraphic, literary and historical exhibit.”????The tablet contains 13 verses from Homer’s 12,100-line epic poem, which follows King Odysseus in his ten year journey home after the Trojan War.??During his long journey, it is assumed he’s dead, causing his wife Penelope and son to fight off unruly suitors.????Both this poem and Homer’s other classic “The Iliad” are believed to have been composed around the 8th century BC.????The tablet was discovered by Greek and German researchers
