Indore: Five cloth traders including their association president were thrashed by a group of over 20 men including labourers in city’s famed MT Cloth Market on Tuesday. The traders were making arrangements for parking in the market when the accused arrived and started arguing with them. They later thrashed them. The police have registered case against the accused and started investigation. The market remained close for whole day after the incident.
According to Sarafa police station staff, Hansraj Jain, president of MT Cloth Market Merchants’ Association, approached police along with other traders and lodged a complaint that he visited Mahvir Chouk area in the market where the parking arrangement was in progress.
He was sitting at cloth merchant Himmat Jain’s shop when labourers’ contractor Dinesh Sharma arrived with his accomplices and beat them black and blue. Police booked the accused under Sections 452, 323, 294, 506, 147, 148 of the IPC and started investigation. No arrests have been made till filing the report.
Jain told Free Press that Dinesh and his accomplices objected against barricades that were being put in Mahavir Chowk to streamlining parking system. Sharma argued that barricades will prevent them from parking hand carts in Mahavir Chowk. To this, Jain insisted that traders need space for parking their vehicles in the area. This led to heated arguments that led to violence. The accused beat Hansraj and other traders – Hitmmat Jain, his sons Ritesh and Pritesh, Mukesh Sawrani.
Jain said complaint has been lodged against Dinesh, Raju Hammal, Sunil Awasthi, Vijay Bagora and others. Dinesh owns two loading vehicles, which remain parked in Mahavir Chowk. The incident sparked off protests among businessmen. The cloth market remained closed on Tuesday against the incident.
