'Angry' Mugabe fires state assigned bodyguards... looks at hiring his own
Former Zimbabwean president Robert Mugabe has reportedly fired six security details provided by the state, as he suspected that they were spying on him on behalf of President Emmerson Mnangagwa's government.
According to the privately owned Standard newspaper, insiders said that Mugabe took the decision last week after his return from his regular medical check-up trip in Singapore.
Mugabe was reportedly "rushed" out of the country after his health "suddenly deteriorated" two in June, according to NewsDay

Zimbabwe's ruling Zanu-PF is reportedly stuck with at least five million party regalia inscribed with the face of its deposed veteran leader Robert Mugabe.
Mugabe stepped down from power following a military intervention "targeting criminals around him" last November.
According to Daily News, Zanu-PF had acquired at least five million party regalia with the nonagenarian's face, as it prepared for his re-election in the coming polls.

Scandal over leaked data hits Zimbabwe's election
A scandal over leaked data has hit Zimbabwe's election after the ruling party sent personalised, unsolicited campaign messages to potential voters' mobile phones.
The opposition says thousands of supporters reported receiving the messages.
"Zanu-PF has been caught with its hands in the cookie jar. There is no legal way for any political party to access voter phone numbers," opposition leader Nelson Chamisa said Tuesday on Twitter.
Some of the messages seen by The Associated Press solicited support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa in the July 30 election and were issued in the language of the area where the voter lives. Zimbabwe, like many countries in Africa, is multilingual.

Four men beheaded by suspected jihadists in Mozambique
Four men were beheaded by suspected jihadists in northern Mozambique, a week after President Filipe Nyusi visited the area and pledged a "ruthless" campaign against the shadowy group.
The strike happened on Saturday in Macanga, about 20km from the town of Palma and near the Tanzanian border, targeting men working in farms.
"Four men were killed and decapitated. One who managed to flee was shot and is under treatment. Five houses were burned. This was around 19:00 Saturday," a local resident told AFP by phone.

'I'll never appoint Grace Mugabe as my deputy,' says MDC leader Chamisa
Zimbabwe's main opposition leader, Nelson Chamisa, has again been forced to deny persistent reports that he has offered former first lady Grace Mugabe the vice presidency post should he win in the forthcoming elections.
According to NewsDay, a faction of the recently-formed opposition, the National Patriotic Front (NPF), claimed last month that Grace wanted to be vice president of the Movement for Democratic Change Alliance.
The sensational claim, which Chamisa rubbished at the time, was allegedly made by Jim Kunaka of the NPF at a press conference in June.

Over 30 Nigeria opposition parties join forces against Buhari
More than 30 opposition parties in Nigeria said on Monday they are teaming up to try to prevent President Muhammadu Buhari from being re-elected to a second term in power early next year.
Representatives of 39 registered political parties, including the main opposition People's Democratic Party (PDP), signed a memorandum of understanding to form an anti-Buhari alliance in the election next February.
PDP spokesperson Kola Ologbodiyan told AFP that the accord would enable the opposition "to come together, present one presidential candidate who will oust the incompetent government of President Muhammadu Buhari".
