If there is one thing that we should all learn from the purple bag fiasco, it is don’t ever rely on the figures this city tells you on how much money will be made from instituting programs like this. The reason: Not everyone will follow the rules.

When was the last time you ever read about someone fined for littering or not having a dog license in this city? We sit around scratching our heads on how to increase revenue when we already have laws that have fines that could provide more needed money. Again, can you ever remember anyone fined for these two things? I hate to say it but in the end, who ends up being the fools?

Nothing should be enacted in this city unless they will guarantee 100 percent enforcement. If they can’t, then it’s not a rule and people shouldn’t follow them. I am sick and tired of paying for other people who elect not to follow the rules. Maybe, if we all felt the same way, we can force change.

Here is an idea: How about increasing the duties of the meter reader to include littering and ticketing people that have dogs with no license? Another words, don’t have laws or ordinances unless you plan on enforcing them.
