"At least give us 10 minutes...we are staying here since 1947," pleaded Gulab Singh to Pakistani officials who were at his home to evict the first Sikh police officer of the country. However, Singh's repeated appeals fell on deaf ears as Pakistani authorities evicted him forcefully from his house.
Gulab Singh was allegedly humiliated and his turban was removed while being ousted from his house in Dera Chahal village situated about 28 km from Lahore.
"My faith was disrespected, if they wanted me to evict the house then they could have simply sent me a notice. My turban was forced open and hair was untied. This is how Sikhs are treated in Pakistan," Gulab Singh told news agency ANI.

In a video released by the news agency, Gulab Singh is seen pleading the officials to give him time to move out of his house. "At least give us ten minutes, we are staying here since 1947," he is heard saying.
According to reports, Gulab Singh's eviction was linked to a property dispute with the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETPB), the parent body of Pakistan Sikh Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (PSGPC).

Gulab Singh also claimed that the action against him was taken because he had exposed the misdeeds of PSGPC office bearers in the name of developing Bebe Nanki Gurdwara.
