GURUGRAM: A resident of Sun City Township, Sector 54, received an electricity bill of around Rs 75 lakh for June from
discom DHBVN. Ratanlal Kashyap said his heart sank when he first read the particulars of the bill. “The maximum bill that we usually pay is of around Rs 3000. We consume power frugally.”
The bill, a copy of which is with TOI, reflects an amount of Rs 75, 5,573 payable by Kashyap by June 25, 2018. Kashyap told TOI he first filed a complaint at the discom’s complaint centre. “I got no response from them,” he said. “Then I filed an online complaint, but nothing came of it. I messaged my bill details to the subdivision officer and also visited his office to apprise him but to no avail,” he said.
Kashyap said his meter had sparked and turned defunct in May, then they got it replaced.
A discom official said they are taking this issue up with the officials concerned. “It was a clerical error,” he said. TNN
