Hry enhances ex-gratia grant from Rs 10 L to Rs 30L for dependents of policemen

In a major decision for the dependents of policemen who die in the line of duty, Haryana Government has enhanced the special ex-gratia grant being admissible to their widow and dependents from Rs 10 lakh to Rs 30 lakh.

Director General of Police, BS Sandhu on Tuesday said that now, Rs 20 lakh would be given to the widow or dependent and Rs five lakh each to the mother and father of the deceased police employee who die while fighting with anti-social elements or saving the public life and property during natural calamities. 

In case both father and mother not alive, then the share of parents would be given to the widow or dependents of the deceased, he said.

Sandhu said that similarly, financial assistance of Rs 15 lakh would be paid to terminally injured police personnel, Rs 10 lakh in case of major injury and Rs five lakh would be given for minor injuries during line of duty.

 He also thanked the Chief Minister Manohar Lal for implementing a number of welfare decisions including increasing the ex-gratia amount to those who die or are seriously injured in the line of duty.

The DGP also said that in addition, Rs two lakh is being given to cops on natural death and Rs 30 lakh in case of an accidental death as per agreement of Haryana Police inked with HDFC bank Limited.
