Cops, protestors clash at Khordha DM office

Tension prevailed at the Khordha district Collector’s office following a scuffle between police and protesters, who tried to storm the Collectorate on Tuesday.

They agitators under the banner of the Tangi Janajagaran Manch also barged into the office premises and ransacked some flower pots and office furniture. The agitators were demanding fulfillment of their several demands.

The agitators alleged that despite repeated assurances their demands are not being fulfilled by the administration. So, finding no way other out they had to resort to the demonstration.

To bring the situation under control, police resorted to a lathicharge in which two of the protesters sustained injuries. They were admitted to the District Headquarters Hospital.

Though the agitators dispersed due to the lathicharge and the police were able to bring the situation under control, the protestors again regrouped and squatted before the Collectorate, giving a tough time to police.
