Applications sought for IMU Ph.D programme

The Indian Maritime University (IMU), Chennai has invited applications for admission to full-time and part-time Ph.D programme.

The course is offered to the second batch of students for the session commencing in September in School of Nautical Studies, School of Marine Engineering and Technology, School of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering and School of Maritime Management.

The last date for the receipt of applications is July 31. The preliminary tests for the course will be conducted on August 10 at IMU- Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Kochi and Visakhapatnam campuses.

Eligibility

Those with a PG degree in relevant discipline or areas of research with minimum 55% marks or equivalent cumulative grade point average can apply for the course. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum marks should be 50% or equivalent CGPA. Candidates are advised to go through the Ph.D regulations before applying for the programme.

Fee for admission registration is ₹10,000 for the programme. While the annual fee for the full-time course is ₹30,000, it is ₹60,000 for the part-time.

The selection process begins with the two-hour-long test for 120 marks which will be conducted on IMU campuses.

Candidates are requested to send the filled in application forms to the Controller of Examinations, Indian Maritime University, HQ ECR Road, Semmenchery, Chennai – 600 119 on or before July 31, mentioning ‘Admission to Ph.D. July 2018’ on the envelope.
