On the 19th day of his fast unto death, Swami Gyan Swaroop Sanand was lifted forcefully by a team of district administration from Matri Sadan where he was fasting, demanding unbridled and clean flow of Ganga, and taken to a Dehradun-based hospital on Tuesday afternoon. The ashram authorities said that though he was hale and hearty the district authorities forcefully lifted him, using heavy force.

Speaking to The Pioneer, Swami Punyanand from Matri Sadan said, "The district administration team gave us a notice, ordering the end of the fasting this morning. The letter was, however, dated July 8. SDM Manish Kumar came with local police force, lifted Gyan Swaroop Sanand and rushed him to Doon Hospital."

The saint had been given support by the local religious fraternity and many other eminent persons during his fasting stir. He had been taking nothing except lime water during the time he was on the fast. Notably, the water man of India Rajendra Singh had also lent his full support to the cause the saint was fighting for.
