BARGARH :  A youth, who was allegedly killed about 19 months back, walked back home hale and hearty on Tuesday. He was identified as 19-year-old Jitu Dansana of Piplipali village within Paikmal police limits in the district. Jitu had gone missing on December 7, 2016 following which his family members lodged a missing complaint with Paikmal police on December 24 after failing to trace him. Subsequently, police arrested two persons, Halu Gurla and Raghab Naik of Bargarh town, on charges of killing Jitu in June last year. The cops had also also seized Jitu’s mobile phone from the duo.

The two had even confessed that they killed Jitu before looting his mobile phone and some cash and later, dumped his body on the bed of Jeera river which flows through Bargarh town. However, police had failed to trace the body of Jitu. Based on the seizure of phone and the duo’s confession, police arrested Halu and Raghab under Sections 302, 201 and 341 of the IPC. Sources said family members found Jitu in Kolkata and brought him back home on the day. Father Manoranjan Dansana said Jitu had gone to Bargarh town for medical check up on December 7, 2016 when Halu and Raghab attacked him.

Jitu became unconscious in the attack and thinking him to be dead, the duo left him on the river bed. On gaining consciousness, Jitu went to New Delhi, where he was working in a catering firm, instead of returning back to his village. Recently, Jitu came to Kolkata and was seen by an ice-cream seller Bijay Sa. Bijay sent word to Piplipali village about Jitu following which family members brought him back home.

Manoranjan said Jitu is mentally unstable and is not able to tell why he went to New Delhi and later to Kolkata instead of contacting his family members.    Paikmal IIC Biswajit Manbodh said police arrested the accused duo under Section 302 of the IPC based on their confession and seizure of Jitu’s mobile phone. As youth is still alive, the matter will turn into a loot case, he said. Both Halu and Rabghab are out bail now.
