2019 VW T-Cross Small SUV: Official Sneak Peek Reveals First Details

VW has released the first details and a short video of the upcoming 2019 T-Cross SUV, which is set to become the entry point of the German company’s crossover range.

The 2019 VW T-Cross will slot underneath the T-Roc to rival models such as the Nissan Juke. It’s based on the widely used MQB platform and if you think of it as a taller Polo, you wouldn’t be far from the truth.

The smallest VW SUV will be 4,107mm-long and 1,558mm-tall, giving the T-Cross a slightly larger footprint than the Polo. VW says that the upcoming small SUV will offer a spacious interior and a class-leading boot volume of up to 455 liters.

The engine range will include three petrol TSI options and one diesel. The 1.0-liter TSI models will be offered with 95PS and 115PS while the range-topping version will use the 1.5-liter engine with 150PS. The single diesel TDI option offers 95PS. Every T-Cross will be offered with front-wheel drive only.

The interior of the VW T-Cross will feature vibrant color trim choices, an optional digital instrument cluster and the latest eight-inch infotainment system. Wireless charging and four USB ports are also present.

Despite the T-Cross aiming to become the most affordable VW crossover, it’ll come with a wide range of active safety systems, including Front Assist, Lane Assist, Blind Spot Monitor, Rear Traffic Alert and more.
