NOIDA: A 35-year old woman was allegedly murdered by her husband on Wednesday morning in Chijarsi village. The deceased has been identified as Mamta Devi, who was from
Jhansi.
The accused, Ajay Kumar, a
cancer patient, is absconding since the incident. Sources said that the man suspected his wife of having an affair with a third person. The couple lived with their daughter
Sakshi (15) and
Sandeep (12) on a rented accommodation.
Amit Kumar Singh, SHO Phase III police station, said that Kumar’s disease was diagnosed six months ago. The family had shifted to a rented accommodation in Noida for medical treatment in
AIIMS. The woman worked at a garment factory while her husband stayed at home.
Police said that the accused was depressed and frequently fought with his wife. On Tuesday night, the Mamta and her Kumar slept in a room while the two children slept on the roof with their maternal uncle, Rahul.
Rahul said that early morning he woke up to a rescue call by her sister. He immediately climbed down the stairs and found his sister stabbed in her neck. The woman informed that her husband attacked her and fled away.
Rahul said that he immediately rushed her sister to a private hospital where doctors declared her brought dead. A police team reached the spot after receiving information but the accused had escaped.
Singh said that a case of murder has been registered against the accused. “We have launched a search to arrest him. The body has been sent for a post-mortem and reports are awaited,” he said. tnn
