About 1.2 lakh people qualified for Central Government Health Service (CGHS) in the region can now avail various types of treatment along with in-patient facility at the Visakha Institute of Medical Sciences (VIMS).
At a simple ceremony here, Additional Director of Health G. Vijay Bhaskar handed over the sanction letter to VIMS Director K. Satyavara Prasad here on Tuesday.
VIMS will offer around 80 single bed rooms to patients as and when required. After studying the facilities available at VIMS, premier hospital in the government sector developed on the lines of Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, empanelled was made for CGHS.
VIMS has super-speciality treatment in all disciplines except cardiac surgery and kidney transplant. It has been proposed to develop cardiology wing under public private partnership.
Dr. Vijay Bhaskar said VIMS had become the first hospital under government sector to get empanelled for CGHS.
