CUTTACK:  In fresh trouble for gangster Syed Usman Ali alias Tito, Commissionerate Police on Tuesday submitted a petition in Judicial Magistrate First Class (JMFC) court at Salepur seeking to make him an accused in the March 28 Jagatpur firing case. One Mohammad Tahir Ali Khan, elder brother of suspected Al Qaeda Indian Subcontinent (AQIS) operative Abdul Rehman of Paschimakachha village was critically injured in the firing.

On March 28, a group of antisocials had opened fire at Tahir in Jagatpur Delta Colony after he refused to accept tender fixing proposal in a canal renovation work under Jagatpur Irrigation (North) division.

During investigation, police had ascertained involvement of Tito gang in the case and arrested 8 accused persons in connection with the incident. As Tito was wanted in Jagatpur firing case, police made a plea before the court to make him an accused in the case, DCP Akhilesvar Singh said.“Jagatpur police will take him on remand after the court accepts the plea of Commissionerate Police,” said Singh.
