The government on Monday issued a G.O. constituting purchase committees in the 13 districts to acquire land for speedy implementation of the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) — Housing for All — NTR Nagar Housing Project.
The Joint Collectors would be the chairpersons with registrars, regional directors of municipal administration, project officers of the AP-Township and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APTIDCO), RDOs /Sub-Collectors and tahsildars as the members. The Municipal Commissioners would be member-conveners.
The government said it undertook the construction of 5,00,000 dwelling units under the Affordable Housing in Partnership-PMAY (urban)-NTR Nagar scheme for the economically weaker sections by 2019 at an estimated cost of nearly ₹38,266 crore which includes the Central government’s share of ₹7,500 crore, A.P.’s ₹13035 crore (State subsidy component ₹7,500 crore, external infrastructure ₹4,500 crore and land acquisition cost ₹1,035 crore) and beneficiary share of approximately ₹17,731 crore.
The APTIDCO had informed the State government that 786.18 acres was to be acquired and the district Collectors were requested to identify the land.
If government land is not available in the municipal areas, private (patta) land in nearby villages is to be acquired. The committees were sought to be formed for the speedy implementation of the programme.
