Nagpur: Close on the heels of Tadoba buffer zone being thrown open for tourists, Umred-Karhandla Wildlife Sanctuary (UKWS) will also remain partially open from July 12.
Owing to monsoon session in the city, there seems to be political pressure to keep the parks open. “Otherwise why change of mind to keep the parks even partially open, when NTCA says there should be no monsoon tourism,” asks honorary wildlife warden Kundan Hate.
In a release, Pench field director RS Govekar informed that 16km route in UKWS will remain open from Karhandla-Ranbodi-Bhalerao Tippat-Navegaon. The carrying capacity has been fixed at 10 vehicles (5 each in two shifts).
Similarly,
safari will be available from Surewani gate till Nagalwadi complex (3.5km) for 8 vehicles (4 in each shift). Further, from Nagalwadi complex to Saleghat boundary (7km) 4 vehicles (2 in each shift) will be allowed. All entries are available offline on first-come-first serve basis.
The timing for safari has been fixed from 6.30am till 10.30am and from 2pm to 5.30pm. The safari will be available depending on the condition of the roads.
Govekar said halting facility is also available for tourists at 10% discount at Sillari in Pench and Nagalwadi complex. However, there is no change in gate fee.
