Goods gutted in godown blaze

Goods worth lakhs of rupees were gutted in fire at a plywood godown in Janakbada, Gaushala under Ganj Police Station jurisdiction of the city which broke out during wee hours on Monday morning.

Station House Officer (SHO), Ganj, Mohsin Khan, informed that the godown of Jalaram Plywood, where fire incident took place, belongs to one Mohan Bhai Patel, a resident of Devendra Nagar.

The blaze started at the plywood godown around 2.00 am and it took four long hours to control the fire by more than a dozen of fire tenders, he said. However, the fire tenders failed to save the plywood and other wooden items worth Rs 70 lakh stored in the godown which were gutted in the blaze, police said.

The information about the incident was received by the owner of godown from his employees and he reached the spot and immediately called the fire tenders. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained but it is suspected that it might have been caused by electrical short circuit, police said.
