Mahajan to take part in South Asian Speakers' Summit

Sumitra will take part in the third South Asian Speakers' Summit in Colombo on July 11-12 which will discuss ways for promoting regional parliamentary cooperation for sustainable and equitable economic growth.

A Secretariat release said that the delegates will deliberate on various topics under the overall theme of "Promoting regional parliamentary cooperation for sustainable, equitable and green economic growth".

The sessions will discuss role of sustainable and green industrialisation in realising of SDGs in South Asia, role of parliamentarians in promoting decent work and safe and secure working environments and their role as promoters of social and economic inclusion in

An outcome document will also be adopted after the summit.

Apart from India, presiding officers of parliaments of Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan, and constitute the South Asian Speakers' Forum.

The last summit was held at India's and this year's summit will carry the consensus arrived in the Declaration.
