Kejriwal inspects desilted drains in Ambedkar Nagar

Amid monsoon in national Capital, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal inspected Public Works Department (PWD) desilted drains in Ambedkar Nagar, South Delhi. According to CM Kejriwal situation on ground is different from the status about drains filed in report.

Location of  inspected drains are Old MB Road Khanpur (Pipal Chowk), Valmiki Mandir Marg and Rajaram Marg near the BRT Road.

Explaining about the situation, Delhi Government spokesperson mentioned that during the inspection on all three spots, it was found that despite official paper reports of drains have not been hundred per cent  desilted and were seen to be choked.

"Even the local public complained to the Chief Minister that no desiliting work had been carried out," said Government official.

Taking cognisance, the CM has directed suspension of negligent officials and stated that no laxity will be tolerated on such important issues concerning the public health and wellbeing.

The CM was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia, PWD Minister Satyender Jain and senior officials of the PWD and district administration during the inspection.

Ambedkar Nagar MLA Ajay Dutt also accompanied the CM and the Ministers during the inspection.

Monsoon in Delhi arrived  two days before official date announced by Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) June 28. 

Two days before the Public Works Department of the Delhi Government has directed senior officials to visit at their respective areas during rains and check the water logging status.
