LUDHIANA:
Deputy commissioner (DC) Pradeep Kumar Agrawal has come up with a novel way to address the environmental issues of the city. He has urged Ludhiana residents to plant a sapling in the memory of their loved ones and maintain later.
In a meeting convened by DC on Tuesday to review the activities carried out under the mission 'Tandurust Punjab' by 12 departments, he directed the forest department to find out a suitable piece of land in the city for this purpose. He said this move will help transform the campaign into a mass movement by ensuring maintenance of saplings after they were planted.
DC also asked the sports department to hold camps in villages and to provide more facilities and opportunities to rural youngsters to hone their skills by organising sports tournaments. Agrawal said that Mission ‘Tandrust Punjab’ was a comprehensive mission to preserve and improve the quality of air, water, and food in the state, thereby ensuring a good living environment for the citizens of Punjab.
