Transsexual woman sub-inspector Prithika Yashini complains of harassment by ex-boyfriend

CHENNAI: K Prithika Yashini, the first transsexual woman to be a police officer in Tamil Nadu, has lodged a police complaint against her ex-boyfriend for harassing her.
Prithika Yashini befriended Jananrdhanan on Facebook a few years ago. However, later, she had not been in touch with him due to differences of opinion.

Recently, she started getting calls and disturbing messages from Janardhanan, Prithika wrote in her complaint.

Based on her complaint, the Aminjikarai police registered a case and questioned Janardhanan. During questioning, Janardhanan promised that he would not disturb Prithika again.

An investigation officer said, “We have taken an undertaking from him and let him go.”

Prithika, born in Salem in 1990, as the son of an auto driver. His parents named him Pradeep Kumar. Later, he changed his name to Prithika Yashini after a sex change surgery.

Prithika came to the limelight because of her decision to join the police force as a sub-inspector in 2013. As she faced difficulties at every stage of the selection procedure, the Madras high court intervened and helped her join the force.
