Dashwanth S, the convict in the sensational rape and murder of minor girl Hasini filed an appeal against the death sentence by Chengalpet Mahila court which has now been upheld by the Madras High Court.

The division bench of Justice S Vimala and Justice Ramathilagam upheld the sentencing given by the Chengalpet Mahila court.
This order confines to just rape and murder of the minor girl.
Apart from this case, Dashwanth is also accused of murdering his mother Sarala Sekhar on December 2 at their Kundrathur house before he fled with her jewellery. The police tracked him to Mumbai but he managed to escape from police custody. He was, however, nabbed within 24 hours and brought back to Chennai.
