"Chief minister Raghubar Das assured us that he will send all the necessary details to the Central government in the next few days," said Jamshedpur MP Bidyut Baran Mahato.
He added that soon after Prime Minister Narendra Modi reduced the penalty amount, levied on the UCIL by the Central environment, forest and climate change department for lease violations, the process of renewing the lease agreement has gained momentum. "The forest department had imposed a penalty of Rs 87 crore on UCIL resulting in delay of the lease renewal as the company was not keen to pay such heavy amount in penalty. But, realizing that it is the local people who are suffering owing to prolonged closure of the mine, I requested the PM to waive off some amount," Mahato said.
"The PM has assured of no delays in giving the nod for mining operations soon after the state government sends the concerned file and the mine should be operational by October," the MP added.
