Nagpur: The dairy development and animal husbandry minister Mahadev Jankar on Tuesday tabled a statement in the state legislature announcing a hefty hike of Rs50 a kg by way of incentive to milk powder exporters and Rs5 a litre of raw milk exported by farmers. Moreover, a policy decision to introduce milk and milk products in schemes like mid-day meals programme for students and nutrition enhancement of kids was also adopted.
The matter of milk prices and need to increase them to support producers was raised vociferously by members in the state assembly on Monday during a debate on a calling attention motion. At that time, Jankar had calmed the house by saying that he would discuss the matter at the highest level and come out with a favourable announcement.

Accordingly a meeting presided over by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis was held in the Vidhan Bhavan premises which was attended by several ministers and group leaders of all parties in the house. The meeting agreed on a scheme to be valid for the next months and the incentives too.
