National spokesman of Aam Admi Party (AAP) Sanjay Singh lambasted the BJP government saying that it played the religion card to cover up for its failure in governance and other drawbacks.

Singh was speaking after the completion of first phase of Janadhikar March to expose the BJP government’s claim on development and non-fulfilment of 2014 poll promises.

The AAP leader said that CM Yogi Adityanath had promised to free roads of potholes in UP by June 15.

“While marching between Mohammadabad and Barauli, we found only potholes and there was no road,” he said.

Singh alleged that goondaism was at its peak in UP and there was nothing like law and order. “Women and girls are unsafe and they were being killed. The previous year witnessed a spurt of 30 per cent in crimes against women in the state,” he said.

Reacting to the murder of ganglord Munna Bajrangi inside Baghpat Jail, Singh said that his murder inside the jail was one of the most sensational crimes which has exposed Yogi government’s claim on curbing crime.

“An enquiry in the case will reveal the truth behind the sensational murder. But it is crystal clear that law and order has hit the nadir in UP. If this is not jungle raaj, whatis ?” he asked.

“By opting to violence one cannot change a country’s conscience and BJP leaders should understand this,” he said.

Sharing farmers’ plight with whom AAP leaders met, Singh said that goons had grabed their land and they were not getting help.

“Their loans were yet to be waived off. We did not find a single farmer who told us that his loan was waived,” he pointed out.

Criticizing the BJP government stand on pension scheme, Singh said that someone elected MLA / MLC / MP for a period of 40 days, is entitled for lifelong pension, but employees who worked hard for 40 years were being deprived of their pensions and this was greatly unjust.

Singh said the Modi government failed to provide job to unemployed and the government was resorting to cane charging youth for demanding it. He also hit out at the PM for his emotional statement on cleanliness of Ganga river and said that river were still to be cleaned despite huge amount being spent.

Speaking on Muslim Personal Law Board’s stand on Darul Kaza (Shariat court), Singh advised them to be cautious of the BJP which he thought would gain more mileage out of it.
